Location: Providence Medical Center 

 

We are seeking a PACU Registered Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit RN) to join our surgical services team. In this role, you will provide post-operative care, monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, manage pain control, and ensure safe recovery following surgical procedures. The PACU RN will perform vital signs monitoring, airway management, and respond to emergencies as needed. Ideal candidates have experience in critical care, perioperative nursing, or ambulatory surgery, and hold current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but are not limited to): 

  • Monitor recovery from anesthesia: vitals, airway, pain, consciousness
  • Administer post-op meds, fluids, dressings
  • Recognize/respond to complications (bleeding, respiratory distress)
  • Provide emotional support, patient/family education, discharge assessment
  • Hand off to interdisciplinary team; accurate documentation; infection control

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintained current.
  • PALS (AHA) certificate preferred.
  • Previous critical care or PACU experience or a minimum of one year of on-the-job training.
  • Critical Care RN (CCRN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
