Hours: 8-hour shift – 7:00am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Supervise and mentor junior surgical technologists and assist with their training and development, demonstrate proper techniques, reinforce sterile procedures and share best practices 
  • Count and track sponges, needles, and tools to prevent retained items, accurate counts of all items used in the surgical procedure 
  • Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments supplies and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping 
  • Assist during surgery by passing instruments maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgical team’s needs while tracking instruments and sponges 
  • Support postoperative care by applying dressings transporting patients to recovery and cleaning and restocking the operating room 
  • Follow strict infection control protocols ensure safe handling of specimens and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards 
  •  Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff while communicating effectively in high-pressure situations 

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current CST certification upon hire and maintain current
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited through ARC/STSA
