Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer - Community/Clinic role is an exceptional opportunity for a certified Athletic Trainer to literally get off the sidelines and into the game. Our Athletic Trainers work shoulder to shoulder with physicians, mid-level providers, physical therapists, MAs, and orthopedic technicians. Together, our dynamic clinical team helps our patients - from athletes to weekend warriors live their best lives. Our Athletic Trainers use their specialty knowledge and a deeply rooted compassion for helping our patients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Support the physician and/or mid-level provider in the delivery of exceptional orthopedic care at our clinic locations and physical therapy departments.
  • Provide support on the sidelines at athletic events.
  • Support our afterhours orthopedic urgent care clinic as needed.
  • Provide casting, bracing, splinting, or other DME equipment.
  • Administer injections, remove casts, splints, and dressings as directed by physician.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for clinical procedures such as aspirations, injections, and X-rays.
  • Take patient medical histories, obtain chief complaints, take vital signs, and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Manage the flow of patients throughout the clinic, rooming patients in a friendly and polite manner.
  • Prepare prescriptions or prescription refills as directed by physician.
  • Assist with the scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Respond to patient and payer phone calls.
  • Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain patient files in the EHR and document as necessary.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety rules and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience collegiate setting and/or ER or Ortho Clinical Experience
  • NATA-BOC Certified and have a current WA State License
  • Previous successful experience working in a clinical setting; experience in the orthopedic specialty is preferred, orthopedic casting experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated passion around sports performance and success in supporting multiple orthopedic sub-specialties.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Epic EMR experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing patient flow in the clinic without diminishing focus on patient care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and HIPPA regulations and ability to apply those regulations on a day to day basis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and ability to educate patients and/or families on proper care and treatment as directed by the physician.
  • Provide exceptional service to all of our patients.
  • Exhibit professionalism and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Maintain OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentially of patient information and business within the organization’s policies.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures for our organization.
  • Treat everyone with respect, courtesy, and friendliness.
  • Provide additional duties as may be assigned.
  • Confidence and maturity are essential personal characteristics. The person in this position must also have exceptional organizational skills.
