About this role

Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting with design on multiple projects, performing standard engineering calculations, and preparing design deliverables for a variety of projects. This position utilizes BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a Project Engineer or Design Engineer, performs the following:
    1. Design calculations by hand and by computer software.
    2. Drafting/modeling of engineering design.
    3. Coordination with other design staff.
    4. Construction document and specification production in compliance with applicable building codes/design criteria.
    5. Reviews project deliverables for compliance with design checklists and drafting standards. 
    6. Organize project information and files according to corporate standard practices and workflows. 
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience with computer aided drafting and modeling using industry accepted software.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Student entering junior or senior year preferred

License and Certification:

  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred

Much of the work will be conducted within an office setting with frequent sitting, reaching and manipulation of objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
