About this role

What You'll Do



We’re looking for an Assistant Actuary or Financial Analyst V to join our Specialty Benefits Division - Finance & Reporting team. In this role, you’ll focus on FP&A for workplace benefits and individual disability.

Tasks Include:

  • Primary resource for FP&A requests such as financial evaluation of strategic initiatives and preparation of board materials. This could include the quantification of strategic investments and preparation of business cases.
  • Collaborating with key business partners to prepare quarterly short-term and long-term forecasts for workplace benefits and individual disability.
  • Modernizing the forecast process with consideration to available technology to drive speed and efficiency.
  • Support efforts to adjust financial processes for upcoming changes to the financial data.
  • Manage areas of responsibility and projects assigned with consideration to timing required and quality of work, documentation needed, reports on progress and final results.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Who You Are



  • Bachelors or master's degree in Actuarial Science or related field, plus 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong analytical and effective communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database or similar PC software packages, or the ability to learn, is preferred
  • Ability to direct the work of others and assist in their education and development

Salary Range Information



Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)



$100800 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program



Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, and Raleigh, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.

Job Level

We’ll consider talent at the next level (Associate Actuary or Assistant Financial Director) with the right experiences and skills.
