About the Role:

The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care within a dental practice. This position involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental procedures, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained to meet infection control standards. The Dental Assistant also manages patient records and appointments using dental software, contributing to the smooth operation of the clinic. Compassionate patient interaction is essential, as the role requires calming anxious patients and providing clear explanations about procedures and dental care. Ultimately, the Dental Assistant helps create a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment that promotes excellent oral health outcomes for all patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Sterilization procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate compassion and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a busy dental practice or clinic setting.
  • Certification as a Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) 
  • Familiarity with dental radiography and exposure techniques.
  • Additional coursework or certification in patient education and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize dental treatment rooms and instruments before patient appointments.
  • Assist dentists during various dental procedures by handing instruments and materials as needed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment.
  • Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and update dental charts using Dentrix or similar dental software.
  • Provide compassionate support and education to patients regarding dental care and post-treatment instructions.
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary.
  • Perform routine cleaning and trimming of dental appliances and materials as required.
