About this role

The incumbent will be responsible for the respiratory assessment, therapeutic treatment, evaluation, testing, education and communication as it pertains to the Level III NICU.  The incumbent will also provide respiratory care as needed for all high risk deliveries and pediatric emergencies.

Education:  Associate degree in respiratory care and a graduate of AMA /CoARC accredited
        program for Respiratory Care.
Licensure:  Holds and maintains an Ohio license to practice respiratory care.      
Certification:           CRT /RRT credential by the NBRC.  BLS and NRP for health care providers must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
            Experience:            A minimum of 2 years' Level III NICU experience is preferred.
Skills/Other:            The RRT must be able to successfully complete the clinical and didactic orientations for neonatal critical care area.  In order to maintain the status of a Registered Neonatal Respiratory Therapist, the incumbent must successfully complete the annual competencies provided by the department for the appropriate patient care areas.

DIMENSION/SCOPE
 
The neonatal respiratory therapists of the Department of Respiratory Care provide 24/7 service to the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  The neonatal respiratory therapist has advanced knowledge and skills in all aspects of neonatal respiratory care, as it pertains to the Level III NICU.  The neonatal respiratory therapist interfaces with medical staff, nursing staff, and other allied health practitioners, as well as patients, their families and their caregivers.
