The Rehab Associate supports the rehab department by managing patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, authorizations, and financial counseling. Responsibilities include educating patients and families on co-pays, deductibles, and financial assistance; obtaining required consents and certifications; collecting payments for self-pay services; and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
The role also involves assisting with clinical support tasks, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and contributing to departmental operations through reporting and special projects.
The Rehab Associate must demonstrate strong customer service, communication, time management, and adaptability skills. They should be able to explain hospital financial policies, secure payments, and interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff while maintaining confidentiality and compassion.
Education: High School diploma/GED required; Associate’s in healthcare or business preferred.
Skills: Proficiency with Windows-based systems and typing (30 wpm preferred); strong communication, multitasking, organization, and math skills; ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Experience: No experience required; 1–3 years preferred in customer service, clerical, healthcare, or insurance. Coursework may substitute for experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, billing, and insurance processes preferred.
Certification: Medical Terminology Certification preferred.
