BubbleCast - Operator

Summary of Job

The position serves as Assistant to the Operator.  The goal of this cooperative effort is to safely and efficiently meet or exceed all manufacturing and quality standards.  The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Operator will be to maximize machine productivity (uptime, line speed, and quality and any other tasks to allow the Mercury Operator to fulfill the duties necessary to produce the highest quality finished product. The Assistant Operator will be expected to work where company business needs require.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

• Operate the winder.
• Starts up the downstream and webs around winder at start-up.
• Must perform all quality checks and communicate any failures to the operator.
• Assist the Operator with troubleshooting of any quality related issues.
• Assist with roll changes, rip outs, and all other downtime related events.
• Monitor the NGR and load material in as needed.
• Dump the NGR at least once every three hours.
• Maintain the NGR (screen changes / water cleaning).
• Document resin box weight.
• Log NGR Production into SAP.
• Log Scrap into SAP.
• Complete the NGR Hour-by-Hour board and enter production for NGR at end of each shift.
• Assist the Operator with monitoring the trim bags and remove as necessary.
• Ensure shift handoffs are being performed at the start and end of each shift with the Assistants and Utilities.
• Train Material Handlers on how to perform job duties.
• Fill in for the Operator during lunches, breaks, emergencies, or as scheduled.
• Inform the Operator when there is a need to leave the line.
• Assist the Operator with any other tasks as requested.
• Ensure all members of the team follow Pregis PPE Policies.
• Complete the appropriate section of the daily cleaning board.
• Ensure the work center is clean and tidy and complete the Housekeeping Shift Handoff form.
• Escalate safety, quality, performance issues as appropriate.

Physical Environmental Demands:

This position requires the following on-the-job time performing physical activities:

• Work in temperatures of 100° plus with high humidity for up to 12-hour shifts. 
• Frequent standing, walking, stooping, squatting, bending, some kneeling and crawling, occasional bending and twisting, occasional stair climbing.
• Pushing/Pulling 30 – 50 pounds of force.
• Occasional reaching, repetitive use of wrist, hands and fingers, frequent use of shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles.

Position Type

• Full time.
• Shift work: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, on a 2,2,3 schedule and 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, on a 2,2,3 schedule.
• Overtime expected per business demand.
