Material Handler

 

Summary of Job

Responsible for loading/unloading trucks, put away product, and movement of product to and from the production floor. Ability to operate Fork/Clamp Trucks and enter data in the ERP system A/R. Adheres to company standards of safety and quality, while maintaining efficiency and timeliness.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis’ core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
  • Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Housekeeping throughout assigned shift to ensure an orderly and safe environment.
  • Physical and visual inspection of products is required to prevent non-conforming goods. Promptly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members.
  • Ability to operate Fork/Clamp Trucks.
  • Ability to lift and stack product above shoulder height on warehouse/production floor and out bound trailers.
  • Assists to maintain a safe, well organized, FIFO (first in, first out) controlled warehouse.
  • Unloading and putting away incoming materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and work regulations including the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety rules. 
  • Attend meetings and complete safety training as required.  Report all hazardous conditions to the Lead, Operations Supervisor, or Plant Manager immediately for corrective action.
  • Report any accident, incident or near miss to the Team Lead, Supervisor, Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others to ensure a positive teamwork culture.
  • Ability to communicate with team effectively and respectfully, and during shift transition.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Inside and outside work
  • Possibility of exposure to extreme range of temperatures
  • Humidity may exceed 80%
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+

 

Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75% of time
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents.

  • Overtime expected per business demand.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year warehouse experience preferred.
