Job Title: Maintenance Manager

 

Summary of Job

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the plant maintenance department by leading technicians, training personnel, administering eMaintenance CMMS, maintaining spares inventory, leading/maintaining projects, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and modifying mechanical, pneumatic and electrical equipment, including PLC, DCS and multiple systems.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis’ core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
  • Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Set the tone for the team’s culture with emphasis on Safety, Quality, Profitability, and people development.
  • Attract, retain, develop, and mentor key talent within your department.
  • Work directly with plant leadership and operations personnel to quickly address breakdowns, repairs, schedule PM’s, etc.
  • Manage plant projects, capital projects and project budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with plant management, engineering, and operations about maintenance and capital project requirements.
  • Grow, sustain, and own competent and complete maintenance spares inventory.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Keep safety in the forefront of the team’s thinking and approach to work.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and well-organized department.
  • Ensure that the maintenance team follows LOTO and other safety rules without exception.
  • Ensure the timely and correct execution of PM and CM work from CMMS system.
  • Achieve low levels of unplanned machine downtime.
  • Own plant capital list and CAR system for the facility.
  • Oversee maintenance spending and adhere to budget.
  • Lead maintenance team to safety, quickly, and effectively complete tasks with a customer centered approach, minimizing downtime and negative impact on service levels to customers.
  • Perform RCA’s and use problem solving tools to continuously improve machines and processes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Use Office software and enter work orders in the CMMS software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.

  • Exposure to moving equipment.

  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+.


Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%.
  • Repetitive use of wrist, hands, and fingers.
  • Frequent bending and some kneeling.
  • Frequent use of shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 30-50 lbs).
  • Fumes or airborne particles, working near moving mechanical parts over 75%.
  • Toxic or caustic chemicals work in high, precarious places under 25%.
  • Ricks of electrical shock from 25% to 75%.
  • Vibration under 25%.
  • Exposure to continuously operating machines and related equipment
  • Occasional reaching.
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in engineering, Mechanics, Electrical, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Welding/Fabrication knowledge.
  • Ability to use CAD software to create mechanical drawings desired.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics repair and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with maintenance CMMS work order systems.
  • Ability to understand mechanical, piping, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
  • PLC certified • Understanding of machine control systems, electrical schematics.
  • 3 years of experience with managerial.
