VBA Developer

Precision Analytical (PA) is the creator of the DUTCH Test, an innovative hormone test that creates better tools for healthcare professionals to explore hormone issues with their patients. PA exists to make it easier for patients and their healthcare providers to find answers to complex clinical questions. We are fully committed to our mission of providing the best diagnostic tools in functional medicine.  

This position is located in McMinnville, Oregon, in the beautiful Willamette Valley. We are seeking candidates who can work effectively from our McMinnville office.

Compensation & Benefits

At PA, we base our pay ranges on the market median of similar jobs, as determined by third-party salary benchmark surveys. The salary range reflects the minimum to midpoint of the salary range to provide room for growth. Your individual pay will vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity. During your initial interview with the Talent partner, you can expect to have an open discussion about your pay expectations.

Job Summary:

The VBA Developer will play a crucial role in automating and streamlining our processes. They will develop and maintain VBA applications, ensuring they meet the needs of various teams and stakeholders. The Developer will work closely with different departments to integrate solutions into business operations and promote efficiency. Their focus on continuous improvement will enhance business performance and create effective solutions.

This role reports to the Lab Systems and Automation Manager 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain VBA applications to automate and streamline laboratory processes.
  • Collaborate with leadership and lab technicians to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design, configure, and implement enhancements and production fixes to existing tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals and guides.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and ensure technical knowledge of all phases of application systems are maintained.
  • Develop and implement new systems, ensuring proper configuration and security measures are in place.
  • Provide support and training to end-users on VBA applications.
  • Ensure all updates and modifications are thoroughly tested and documented.
  • Collaboratively perform other duties as needed to support the company’s goals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Physical Sciences.
  • 4+ years of computer science or developer experience.
  • Proven experience as a VBA Developer with strong proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with SQL, including creating views, stored procedures, and queries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and find technical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills; the ability to communicate and effectively collaborate with non-technical staff.
  • Positive team-work oriented attitude; an ability to work as part of a team and independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge in the healthcare industry or a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages and tools used in healthcare IT.
  • Experience writing Excel plugins and integrating Excel with other data sources.
  • Experience with statistical data modeling.
  • Experience with .NET programming.

Work environment:

This position is located in an office/lab environment with frequent use of laboratory instruments and tools, computer and related hardware. A person must be able to stand and/or sit and effectively move around the building and lab workspaces; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach.

This position requires lifting up to 25lbs, and use of PPE when working with urine, saliva, or other samples, or with chemicals and other substances, within our lab environment.
