Maintenance Tech – 1st Shift

Shift/Hours: Monday – Friday 6:00AM – 2:00PM

Pay Rate: $25.00+

As a Maintenance Technician at Pratt Industries – Cedar Hill, you will be a crucial part of our day to day. Our Maintenance Technicians maintain and repair the machinery and building involved in turning recycled paper into sheets of corrugated board and getting them to our customers! Key Duties and Success Factors

  • Safety & Compliance: Exercise safe work habits and maintain a clean and safe working area, follow all company safety policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with operational guidelines and OSHA regulations.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain company standards for quality, and perform inspections and ensure all parts and assemblies meet production specifications.
  • Operational Efficiency: Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment in plants and related facilities, perform preventative maintenance on motors, die cutters, hydraulic systems, conveyors, steam systems, and other related plant equipment. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery in maintenance, repair, and fabrication of parts.
  • Technical Responsibilities: Interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams and drawings, mount electrical components such as drives, servos, PLCs, circuit breakers, transformers, and relays. Perform wiring, labeling, and testing of electrical components. Cut, strip, bend, and form wire cable and conduit used to connect circuits and sub-assemblies. Perform soldering, crimping, and securing of electrical components. And conduct functional and continuity tests using an ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments.
  • Training & Development: Cross-train in multiple technical areas to enhance skills, and participate in continued education and training opportunities.
  • Reporting & Maintenance: Accurately complete work orders and maintenance reports, and identify potential equipment failures and proactively recommend repairs.
  • Flexibility & Teamwork: Work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed, assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and support plant inspections and operational adjustments as needed.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Experience:
    • Class A Certification in Electrician work 
    • 2-5 years of experience within a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
    • Preferred experience in the manufacturing industry (e.g., corrugated industry).
  • Machine Setup & Material Handling: Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial machinery and equipment. Experience in handling electrical and mechanical components.
  • Quality Control & Production Monitoring: Familiarity with inspecting production processes and ensuring equipment reliability. Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Proficiency in problem-solving and identifying system improvements.
  • Skills:
    • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
    • Ability to operate and maintain various hand and power tools
    • Knowledge of general maintenance principles and skilled trades applications
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and operational procedures
    • Basic computer skills for tracking maintenance records and reports
    • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
    • Self-motivated with a history of good work performance and attendance
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, and work in physically demanding conditions, frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating tools/machinery. Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
  • Certifications: Preferred apprenticeship or associate degree in a relevant field. May be required to maintain a Lift Truck Operator License
  • Work Environment: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and high-noise environments, frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions. Occasional exposure to high places, airborne particles, and vibration. Fast-paced and safety-oriented work setting
