POSITION: Agriculture Mechanical Packaging Internship
LOCATION: North Carolina
DIVISION: Agriculture
DURATION: 10 to 12+ Weeks (May 2026 through August 2026)
General Summary:
The Mechanical Packaging Technician Intern will support technicians within Pratt Agriculture’s Mechanical Packaging Group by assisting with the repair and maintenance of Pratt’s packaging machinery installed at customer sites. This role requires to travel to customer locations to help perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks that minimize downtime and ensure the optimal performance of Pratt-owned machinery, ultimately maximizing customer efficiency.
The goal of the internship is to provide hands-on exposure to the daily responsibilities of a Mechanical Packaging Technician. Interns will gain real-world maintenance experience, strengthen their industrial maintenance skillset, and develop a strong understanding of packaging equipment operations. Position Requirements and Demands:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Technical College pursuing a degree in the maintenance field
- Ideal candidate will live in North Carolina
- Able and willing to travel as required. The primary travel area will be North and South Carolina but there could be some overnight travel required.
- Able to work weekend and holidays
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete or on uneven surfaces for 8-12 hours/day
- Must have effective organizational and communication skills
- Must have a positive, can-do attitude
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Able to work outdoors in a non-climate controlled environment
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a professional appearance with the ability to communicate to customers in a polite, respectful manner
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining company-owned packaging machinery
- Assist in diagnosing machine problems
- Assist in maintaining organized documentation such as service records
- Assist in the local shop to refurbish packaging machinery, as needed
- Must demonstrate an understanding of both Pratt’s and the customer’s objectives relating to: productivity, safety, quality, customer service functions, and budgetary goals; your daily activity must align to achieve these goals
- Serve as a resource to other technicians to assist in resolving maintenance issues
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment at all times
