Job description - CDL Driver

 Job Summary

Prairie Farms Dairy has an excellent career opportunity for a CDL Sales/Route Driver position located in Dayton, OH. The chosen individual will work Monday - Friday and will have the opportunity to be home every night!  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Load and unload dairy products for store delivery
  • Drive truck to address on delivery tickets
  • Push, pull or lift product from cases, pallets or bossy
  • Use a handheld computer
  • Do daily safety check of vehicle and maintain clean environment
  • Work within safety and regulatory company policies
  • Abide by all D.O.T. guidelines
  • Extend priced delivery ticket as needed

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A or B with air brakes & DOT Medical Certification
  • Will consider individuals who have received their CDL A or B within the last 6 months
  • Must have a High School or GED diploma
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to treat customers courteously and responsively.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The visual requirements are needed in order to be DOT qualified to drive. Must be able to meet all physical requirements as needed by DOT qualifications.
