JOB DESCRIPTION

FIRST-CLASS MAINTENANCE WORKER

 

The First-Class Maintenance Mechanic shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

Provides technical knowledge for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment and process issues. They perform emergency repairs on equipment in a quick, efficient, and safe manner, while prioritizing tasks to sustain plant operations and production.

 

  • Monitor and maintain machinery, equipment, and processes to improve plant operations, ensuring safe and efficient operations and maintenance of all systems.
  • Perform daily checks and logging of equipment operations and optimize efficiency through preventative/predictive methods.
  • Complete CMSS-generated PM’s and assigned Work Orders, focusing on proactive maintenance to minimize downtime. 
  • Identify and eliminate root causes of failures, providing long-term, permanent solutions to recurring problems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user information services, and in-house technical knowledge base systems to improve department efficiency.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the area worked, including food safety and quality protocols.
  • Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Utilize food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe quality Foods (SQF) Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control points.
  • Consistently meet production needs and goals while minimizing product shrink and downtime.

Required Technical Skills:

 

  • Mechanical: must be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment used for production.
  • Welding: must be able to perform welding repairs on production equipment as needed.
  • Electrical: Must be able to troubleshoot electrical systems and controls for single and three phase services.
  • Basic math knowledge.
  • Must be able to use a measuring tape.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • Must be able to follow blueprint, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.

 

Required Soft Skills:

 

  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Coachable and willing to learn.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, crawl, climb, squat, and work at times both above the head and at ground level during repair and maintenance operations. Must be able to lift 30lbs.  Must keep work area safe and clean and work in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Education, Certifications and Experience: 

 

The following are required:

  • 1-3 years maintenance experience
  • Previous PLC experience
  • Previous small engine experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot

 

Other:

 

The Industrial Maintenance Worker is an hourly position and reports to the Maintenance Manager. First shift schedule working 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  Hourly wage of $31.35.
