To provide proper performance of functions involved in the safe, efficient distribution of medications, in accordance with relevant laws, rules, regulations and standards of pharmaceutical care.
Reviews prescriptions to determine the appropriateness of medication therapy.
Processes both cash and insurance prescriptions.
Ensures the cash collection is secure and correct at all times.
Contacts insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
Properly handles controlled medications and prescriptions and ensures the controlled medication stock is correct and secure at all times.
Advises patient on the correct administration of drugs.
Monitors patient medication profile in order to prevent drug interactions, allergic and adverse drug reactions.
Provides drug information and communicates with prescribers and other staff regarding drug therapy or safe drug handling.
Performs patient teaching functions on appropriate use of medications.
Performs quality control checks in accordance with departmental procedures.
Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversees these activities.
Monitors and reports adverse drug reaction and medication errors.
Selects medications and alternatives.
Conducts orientation, training, and educational programs as required.
Conducts quality improvement tasks in conjunction with other staff members.
Monitors and oversees that the Pharmacy is kept in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
Performs all other duties as required or assigned.
Actively participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program
Actively participates in departmental motivational program to enhance patient / customer relations.
Introduces himself to the patient and explains the therapy at all times.
Supports hospital policies and serves as a professional role model for all staff.
Effectively communicates with colleagues, superiors, and all medical staff and maintains a positive attitude.
Effectively communicates with patients and their families.
Knowledge of actions, side effects, appropriate use of commonly employed drugs, antibiotic utilization, evaluation, drug therapeutic monitoring, adverse drug reaction monitoring, patient chart review and selection of alternatives.
Knowledge of local revenue cycle policies and procedures
Knowledge of current technology and pharmacy systems for distribution of medications
Knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology abbreviations and symbols.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail pharmacy.
Experience in hospital setting is preferred
Pharmacist licensure from MOPH in Qatar
Minimum of 1 year experience in GCC
