Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop.  Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

Position: Front Desk Agent

Location: Stovepipe Wells, CA.  Inside Death Valley National Park.

Job Status: Full Time, Seasonal

Stovepipe Wells has an 83 - room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop.  Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment. Substantial renewable energy projects and energy efficiency upgrades will also be completed.  POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service. 

Front Desk Agents are responsible for welcoming guests, managing reservations and acting as an ambassador of the operation providing excellent quality visitor experiences. This position reports directly to the Lodging Manager. You will actively cultivate a safe, friendly, and fun work environment where outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship are embraced. Communication and frequent updates dialoguing with the Lodging Manager and cross-department communication is absolutely essential for this position.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations. 

  • Answer phones, handle reservations and respond to guest inquiries.  

  • Assist guests in locating hotel rooms, RV sites and NPS Campsite.  

  • Be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by guests such as eateries, sundries, refreshments, churches, tourist attractions and local events. 

  • Perform basic duties in common areas to maintain an attractive and clean environment.

  • Front Desk Agents are expected to participate in quality visitor satisfaction comment card and post-visitor survey records, review and necessary follow-up.

  • Keep a written report regarding concerns of park facilities, report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors and report any maintenance items which need immediate attention. 

  • Promotes overall enjoyable staff experience by implementing positivity and fun in daily operations. 

  • Learn and demonstrate ESQ program, environmental, safety and quality roles, responsibilities and program requirements.

Work Location:

  • Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Free on-site RV space available for employees.

  • Complimentary shuttle service is available to and from work from Amargosa Valley and Beatty at designated times determined by operations.

  • Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open every day. You must have a willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime to support kitchen operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.

  • Technical skills for entries of reservations and quality performance. 

  • Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, NPS and the public.

  • Ability to remain calm and friendly.

  • Ability to physically be out to make rounds throughout the resort. 

  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. 

  • Minimum 1 year work experience in a hospitality service position.

  • High school diploma required.

  • Current CPR w/AED and First Aid medical certification is required and certification is provided on-the-job upon hire

Compensation: 

  • Hourly wage as agreed upon job offer, DOE. Free on-site RV space available for employees.
