About the Position
We are seeking a Mid-Level Process Design Engineer to join our growing Process team in our Bogotá office. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in process design related to the energy sector. Experience in Oil & Gas, especially in midstream and biogas, is valued. The candidate will support a variety of multidisciplinary energy projects and will also interact with clients.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Over 5 years of experience in energy, specifically in Oil & Gas, midstream, and biogas or in mechanical process design engineering.
- Advanced experience in engineering design principles, applicable guides, codes, and standards.
- Full understanding of process design and management of process engineering work.
- Ability to deliver presentations to clients.
- Ability to produce complete process engineering documents and review vendor drawings and specifications.
- Ability to design P&IDs and supervise the drafting team.
- Ability to size and generate equipment specifications.
- Familiarity with equipment, piping, and instrumentation specification and installation.
- Experience with process simulation (e.g., ASPEN Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, Promax, PRO II).
- Experience with hydraulic software (e.g., AFT Fathom, Arrow, PIPE-FLO).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Biochemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Responsibilities:
- Lead process engineering tasks in a multidisciplinary environment under general supervision.
- Deliver process engineering deliverables on time, within budget, and with the quality and accuracy expected by clients.
- Knowledge of process design and process safety.
- Develop process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, equipment data sheets, and cost studies. Support layout development.
- Supervise the P&ID drafting team.
- Review and approve process deliverables.
- Create project-specific design basis, incorporate client requirements, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards.
- Identify and report changes in project scope to the supervisor.
- Produce optimal designs, engineering calculations, preliminary designs, and material lists suitable for cost estimates.
- Review vendor fabrication drawings and other construction documents to verify process design, industry codes/standards, and good engineering practices.
- Coordinate and consult with other disciplines to ensure quality and workflow of the project.
- Participate in client presentations.
