About This Role
About the Role
Plato is looking for a (Senior) AI Engineer with a focus on Search and NLP to join our team in Berlin. You will work on the core AI systems that power Plato's sales intelligence platform for the $48T wholesale industry.
As part of a small, high-impact engineering team, you will build and improve our search and natural language processing capabilities that help B2B distributors surface real-time insights, automate quote and order creation, and make data-driven sales decisions.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement search algorithms and NLP pipelines to process ERP data, product catalogs, and customer interactions
- Build recommendation systems and AI models that drive proactive sales automation for wholesale distributors
- Optimize retrieval and ranking systems for product matching, customer lookup, and intelligent query handling
- Collaborate closely with product and data teams to ship features that directly impact revenue for our customers
- Contribute to the AI platform architecture, working with state-of-the-art models and techniques
What We Are Looking For
- Strong experience in NLP, information retrieval, or search systems
- Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)
- Experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and modern NLP architectures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership
- Bonus: experience in B2B SaaS, ERP systems, or wholesale/distribution domains
