This is a complex, operations-heavy business — we move physical DNA around the world faster than anyone else, process terabytes of sequencing data per day. We’re looking for someone who can own critical backend systems that directly power our logistics, finance, and data integrations. There are certainly aspects of being a “forward-deployed engineer” as you work closely with teams across the company to solve problems in real time, architect new systems, and make the world’s fastest DNA sequencing company even faster. We care deeply about outcomes — balancing long-term architecture with delivering the 80% solution quickly when it moves the business forward.
You’ll work across backend services and user-facing workflows that power our impact on the biotech ecosystem, wearing many hats including:
Logistics: Developing services and integrating APIs that support our global operations, coordinating couriers, labs, and robotics systems around the world.
Finance: Building reliable billing and payment systems to streamline invoicing, reconciliation, and pricing workflows — working directly with stakeholders to iterate on solutions that actually reduce friction.
Data Integrations: Designing REST APIs and backend services that allow customers to seamlessly integrate sequencing results into their internal tools and lab notebooks.
Operational Systems at Scale: Evolving backend systems that orchestrate high-volume workflows and data pipelines, ensuring reliability and speed as we grow.
The ideal balance is roughly 70% backend and 30% frontend. You’ll primarily focus on backend systems (Python, APIs, data modeling), but should be comfortable building and iterating on user-facing features when needed. This is a product-oriented full stack role.
Every member of our engineering team is highly valued and has the opportunity to grow quickly. Together, we’re building the infrastructure that will define the future of DNA sequencing.
