About this role

Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid

An (Sr./Lead) Analyst/Engineer in Performance Compliance assures the reliable, economic, and coordinated operation of the PJM Interconnection in accordance with PJM Operating Principles and Standards and applicable Regional and NERC Operating Policies. The (Sr./Lead) Analyst/Engineer, Performance Compliance supports this mission by assembling and analyzing key power system data and documenting the results. Key activities include the following:
• Compile, prepare and analyze various statistical/analytical data, reports statements, studies or projects.
• Provide analysis of the electric power grid across many areas of RTO operations and recommend changes or enhancements to PJM and NERC policies and procedures.
• Develop performance metrics for ISO performance goals and develop the associated measurement and reporting process.

Essential Functions:

  • Support activities under the leadership of other staff members to achieve Operations Performance objectives include: Data gathering and analysis for Operations Improvements and for NERC compliance monitoring.

  • Prepares daily, monthly and annual reports for PJM grid and market operations.

  • Coordinate activities necessary in the acquisition, maintenance, and calculation of data necessary to provide reporting services.

  • Support market analysis functions.

  • Contributes to large and complex assignments that support present and future needs and develops and monitors metrics for evaluating the PJM operating performance.

  • Analyzes existing operating procedures, incidents and analysis methods and promotes the development of new methods and the introduction of improved and emerging technologies.

  • Work with Monitoring Analytics to ensure compliance with PJM's governing documents, such as the Tariff and Operating Agreement.

  • Support performance evaluation of ancillary service functions, such as regulation, reactive, and black start to ensure compliance.

  • Provides support to activities of PJM or industry committees or task forces involving issues related to bulk power operations, operating arrangements and government regulations.

  • Prepares reports and presentations as necessary to support activities associated with the Market Services Division.

  • Review of fuel cost policies, variable operations and maintenance adders, and emissions adders to ensure compliance.

  • Support PJM Stakeholder Process by providing SME, Advocate, Secretary, and Facilitation roles.


Characteristics and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory

  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions

  • Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
