Overview

PITT OHIO, a $900 million, high service, highly profitable, transportation solutions provider offering SUPPLY CHAIN, LTL and TRUCKLOAD services is seeking a HR Business Partner Manager to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

Purpose

To provide HR business expertise that supports the achievement of strategic enterprise objectives in areas including but not limited to employee relations, employee engagement, recruiting, and investigations to terminal operations and other business units across the enterprise. To supervise HR business partner team.  

Responsibilities

• In partnership with terminal and departmental management, respond to and address employee relations issues including recommendations for appropriate action; mediate and facilitate issues between management and employees; develop solutions to challenges of diverse scope and complexity while managing precedents• Manage and direct the HR Business partner team including scheduling, conducting performance reviews, coaching, and issuing discipline, etc. and all related activities• Assist terminal and departmental management with coaching and counseling employees on a variety of issues; draft complex and sensitive employee warnings• Develop and implement actions plans in areas including employee engagement and other applicable areas of compliance• Leads the ongoing review, revision, and maintenance of Employee Handbook, ensuring all content remains accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations. • Investigate and document employee concerns regarding workplace and other issues• Partner with legal team to provide all pertinent information needed to defend charges against the company• Manage and oversees the HR Business Partner team’s application of onboarding interview process for new hires, including developing interview guidelines, alignment with PITT OHIO culture, and identifying trends to improve new hire experience and retention. • Submit and initiate workflow changes for employees and managers using HRMS system • Communicate and interpret HR policies and procedures employees; assist in the creation and implementation of new HR policies; support management in the interpretation and use of policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws whenever feasible• Champion cross-functional input (HR Leadership, Operations, Legal) to update policies and communicate finalized revisions to leaders and employees • Coordinate and lead various HR initiatives and projects across the enterprise• Submit monthly report of all HR Employee Relations activities• Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

 

Other Duties

• Support the wellness initiatives at terminal locations • Assist terminal management with recruiting qualified applicants for all positions including phone screening, interviewing, attending job fairs, and maintaining relationships with recruiting sources• Assist terminal operations with the new hire orientation• Support departmental and terminal management with HR Training resources as needed• Identify HR technologies and systems that enhance reporting, workflow efficiency, and employee experience• Audit HR processes and procedures across terminal locations

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field required.  PHR or other professional HR certification preferred• Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience partnering with management and operations resolving diverse and complex employee relation issues • Minimum 5 years of HR managerial experience with a business partner team• Must be able to maintain an energetic, passionate, and positive disposition under a variety of circumstances• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required • Proficient with HRMS/HRIS application; UKG preferred but not required • Understanding of various employment laws, compliance issues, and various other HR topics• Experience in the transportation, manufacturing, or in an industrial environment preferred but not required • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences; must possess above average interpersonal skills• Ability to solve complex business problems and think critically • Must work collaboratively with others to meet goals and objectives while maintaining company culture and strong, effective relationships• Must be able to prioritize competing objectives and consistently meet deadlines

 

Working Conditions

• Primarily a sedentary position working in an office environment; frequent exposure to moderate noise levels including ringing telephones, machinery, and conversations of others. • 20-30% travel required to terminal or other locations within the enterprise’s service footprint• Potential exposure to adverse weather conditions when interacting with management and employees• May be exposed to dock operations including freight, forklifts, and other dock equipment.  May also be exposed to various trucks, exhaust, fumes, and other related conditions.• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers• Talking and hearing required to communication with and listen to others to share or receive information.
