Under general supervision, this position leads manufacturing and production activities; assists Operations Supervisor with the coordination of materials and/or products processing in the manufacturing facility; leads manufacturing employees and monitors output and quality of products; and assures products meet quality and delivery requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Responsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
- Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staffing for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
- Assist with the development of SOP's, work instructions and other job-related materials,
- and assists with training and certification programs as needed.
- Utilize the 3C's problem solving method in support of the plant lean initiative.
- Ensure machines and equipment are inspected to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Perform all necessary quality checks, review, and audit work performed both during the process and at completion to ensure accuracy to work orders.
- Transmit and assign production schedules to employees according to priority.
- Assist in performance of all work-related assignments as needed, relieves for breaks, assist with equipment changes, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of information such as daily receipts, inspection results, etc.
- Assist with data entry and distribution of key production metrics, productivity, OEE, etc.
- May occasionally operate forklifts, scissor lifts and/or other powered industrial trucks in loading, unloading and movement of parts and equipment.
- Assists Operations Supervisor as needed.
- Prepare operational schedules and coordinate activities to ensure deadlines are met and quality of products meets specifications.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Ensure all tasks are performed according to safety procedures and regulations.
- Compile, store, and retrieve manufacturing and production data using computers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma, GED
- (3) to five (5) years' experience technical production line operation experience in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment and/or equivalent combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job.
- Prior manufacturing experience in a GMP environment (food manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, etc.)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability required.

- Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, WMS and SAP preferred).
- Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clean room attire.
- Moderate physical activity, requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform work onsite and be comfortable in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
