About this role

Position Summary: 

The Billing Manager is responsible for leading and managing billing operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls. This role involves supervising a billing team, collaborating with other departments to enhance efficiency, monitoring billing activity, and providing regular financial reporting. Success in this position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a process-driven approach

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and manage the billing team to ensure timely and accurate completion of weekly billing.
  • Provide weekly reporting on billing activities, including unbilled transactions, pending items, and budget comparisons.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with regional contacts to ensure timely billing submissions and approvals.
  • Establish, document, and enforce billing procedures to support internal and external audits.
  • Recruit, train, and manage billing staff, ensuring clear communication of expectations and performance standards.
  • Maintain high-quality service by enforcing standards, resolving issues, and recommending process improvements.
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned by management.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing billing teams, preferably in power or construction-related industries.
  • Proven experience overseeing billing groups and working with unit-based billing types, including renegotiated pricing standards.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and checks and balances within billing processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software (Microsoft Great Plains/Solomon preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and scanners.
