Grant Specialist 
 

The Opportunity: We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Grants Specialist to play a critical role in advancing the mission of Entrepreneurial Ventures in Education (EVE).  This is a full-time remote position that will primarily involve researching, identifying, and writing high-quality proposals to support EVE programs.   
 

Essential Job Tasks: 
This is a full-time, remote Grant Writer role.  The Grant Writer is an EVE employee who will support all programs under EVE’s umbrella.  The Grant Writer will be responsible for writing and applying for grants that align with EVE’s mission and goals through a pipeline of opportunities provided to them. Daily tasks include writing and submitting high-quality grant proposals, conducting necessary research to support applications, grant budget development, and grant narrative writing, and effective communication with internal partners. The role will report directly to the Grants Manager and is responsible for generating $1,000,000 annually and retaining 90% of award revenue year over year.


Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management, Strategy and Planning

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the mission and strategic goals of EVE entities, including Phalen Leadership Academies, Summer Advantage, Skilled US, and Indy Scholars.
  • Conduct thorough research to enhance the quality of grant applications and proposals that will result in compelling and winnable grant proposals and submissions to secure funding.
  • Manage grant budgets, ensuring appropriate allocation and monitoring of fund usage.
  • Manage portfolio of donors and prospects by developing and implementing a multi-year vision to achieve ambitious team and network-wide goals.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other CRM platforms to track fundraising activity, manage donor and prospect data, monitor pipelines, and support strategic prospect development.
  • Work closely with the Grants Manager to identify programmatic needs and source external partners with the capacity, expertise, and motivation to best support them. 
  • Expand, enhance, and leverage our partner base by building a strong prospect pipeline, networking to expand the pool of prospective partners, developing tactical cultivation plans to get in front of decision-makers, and writing compelling partnership proposals that will ultimately yield substantial contributions to EVE.
  • Make calls and schedule visits with potential and current donors to nurture their interest.
  • Source and steadfastly pursue new relationships and opportunities with external organizations and potential funders.
 

Minimum Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of increasing responsibility in non-profit fundraising
  • Strong understanding of workforce development and economic mobility concepts and funding
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and other CRM platforms to support fundraising tracking, data management, and prospect development
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Extreme tact and discretion, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence
