About this role

AQDS Biomedical Informatics & Strategy Lead

We are looking to identify an experienced leader who is passionate about the potential of novel technologies to advance end to end clinical development for R&D programs. In this role, reporting into the Head AI/ML, Quantitative & Digital Sciences (AQDS), you will lead cross-functional teams of senior leaders within Pfizer R&D, other Pfizer teams and external partners to develop and deliver data, informatics and technology transformation to manage, analyze and use biomedical data for decision making in R&D programs, integrative medical evidence generation for lifecycle planning, or alternatively drive a significant change in Pfizer’s Data science & AI capabilities. Leveraging your matrix leadership experience, you will be responsible for informatics strategy, business case, deployment and value capture for technology projects in your portfolio. You will be responsible for developing business cases, timelines, budget and quality of solutions including informatics, data science and AI methods and tools. You will also partner and collaborate with functional leadership to ensure appropriate resourcing for your projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought partner and provide strategic support to the Head of AQDS in the identification of opportunities for deployment of new technologies/transformation.
  • Identify key use cases that can benefit from novel technologies such as digital biomarkers, wearables, and novel diagnostic techniques.
  • Develop strategy for leveraging informatics capabilities through internal capabilities, external partnerships and BD.
  • Partner with the AQDS team leaders to identify use cases for AI, machine learning and advanced analytics in clinical development and medical evidence generation.
  • Own relationships with senior external stakeholders at actual or potential technology partners.
  • Lead the enterprise project team delivery of multiple complex use case/solution teams that advance technology solutions for Oncology drug development.
  • Accountable for developing the strategy for execution of the use case, managing timelines, budget and assessing impact of the projects.
  • Lead planning and oversight of oncology focused strategic partnerships designed to advance the oncology technology development business goals.
  • Accountable for communication internally and externally to Pfizer R&D leadership and external steering committees regarding project status, milestones, risks and value capture.
  • Lead business case development for innovation opportunities and work with senior Pfizer R&D functional leaders to obtain enterprise endorsement and funding.
  • Manage lifecycle of digital solutions from concept design, prototyping, to development and release.
  • Work with R&D IT and Digital teams to identify and manage data security risks and GxP validation requirements for R&D technologies.
  • Draft SoWs and initiate contracts for data science & AI projects and oversee their execution and value capture
  • Accountable for measuring and demonstrating tangible business impact of digital solutions and analyzing data to assess ROI.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant scientific/medical discipline (e.g. Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biomedical engineering, Information science) and 10+ years clinical development and operations experience, including expert knowledge in R&D programs, medical affairs or digital health OR Masters degree in a relevant scientific/medical discipline and 15+ years clinical development and operations experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering on complex, global clinical trials.
  • Deep insights into the clinical trial digital ecosystem and expertise in developing and implementing pragmatic digital solutions.
  • Experience developing business cases and securing funding for investment in innovation projects.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on ROI/value creation from technological innovations within clinical development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Business education (e.g. MBA, Operational strategy, Program management, Data & AI leadership certification)
  • Experience in technology/data vendor oversight and business development.
  • Experience utilizing market intelligence and leading vendor assessment to identify potential digital/technology transformation partners.
  • Experience in one or more Tx areas -Oncology, Cardiometabolic disease, Immunology & Inflammation, Vaccines
  • Experience with R&D digital solution lifecycle management and GxP testing and validation.

Additional Information:

  • Work Location Assignment:  This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week or more as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $176,600.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
