Summary: The Desktop Support 3 position provides desktop leadership and an additional level of support for a network of PHC computers, Vocera, phones, and other peripherals as well as being the liaison for tickets escalated to the Systems team and 3rd party vendors.
Areas of Responsibility – Desktop Support Specialist 2 responsibilities plus:
Operations:
- Takes the lead to work with vendors to resolve technical issues with hardware equipment, desktop software and technical consulting
- Coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems
- Works with the Systems Administration team to escalate and resolve desktop issues
- Understand basic network plan and assist Network Engineer in any changes that affect Desktop
- Act as a backup to the Desktop Support Lead when they are unavailable
General Duties:
- Leads desktop projects and special tasks
- Assist with all other special tasks and manage projects as directed by management
- Develop and participate in workflow documentation and procedures
- Provides New Hire Orientation, if needed
Printer Management:
- Work with Systems team for any fax issues
Desktop Client Management:
- Test and recommend new desktop client solutions (hardware and software) including standard hardware platforms, OS updates and methods for distributing changes
- Work with Systems Engineers to ensure the network security policy and standards for PHC are implemented:
o Install appropriate firewalls, password protections, and anti-virus software
o Install patch updates as appropriate
o Ensure computer security as necessary, for example, by eliminating unnecessary services, minimizing unencrypted authentication, prevent unauthenticated email relays and uncontrolled access to proxy services, and providing for physical security
o Distribute monthly IT Security Newsletter
- Liaison to Systems team for terminal server environment escalations
- Support various on premise and cloud software solutions (Intranet, Office365, eCW) and escalate to vendors, if needed
Phone and Video Communication Management:
- Program and distribute iOS devices and work with vendors (Verizon, Apple) for updates, troubleshooting and escalations
- Support Vocera and other Facility Systems – including MACs and licensing/troubleshooting of issues with the system in conjunction with the vendor
- Own the monthly Vocera testing schedule, communicate results and propose resolution plans for any problems
- Support Cisco Video, Webex, and Jabber messaging platforms and work with Systems team for escalations
IT Security:
- Create articles for the IT Security Newsletter
- Support any audits for IT Desktop matters
- Review security bulletins for IT Desktop concerns
Education/Experience:
- Associates degree or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One to two years Desktop Support experience
- Knowledge of Apple hardware and software preferred
- Knowledge of various software packages including Microsoft products Required
- Knowledge of networking and security including TCP/IP, AFP, SMB, NFS, SFTP, SCP, SSH, SSL, OSI layer model a plus
- Knowledge and ability to provide support for various software packages including Microsoft products, eCW, and Dentrix
- Knowledge to ensure network security policy and standards for PHC are implemented and enforced
Licenses and Certifications: At least one below plus valid California Driver License
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- ITIL Foundation Certification (ITIL -F)
- Current, valid California Driver License required
Language Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal preferred.
