Associate Product Design Engineer

Job Description & Responsibilities

We are looking for an Associate Product Design Engineer who will be responsible for leading research and development of new products, leading improvements to existing products and overall systems solutions. This role will play a critical role developing Wave Relay Product solutions with our DOD customers.  The Product Design Engineer will identify customer needs through face-to-face interaction and play a critical role in developing the product solution.  The Product Design Engineer will operate out of our New York City headquarters and manage projects involving a variety of functions with both on-site and remote teams.     

Position Responsibilities 

• Managing, deriving, and capturing Product/Program requirements including mechanical and electrical interface design specifications, component requirements, and functional block diagrams 
• Supporting software and hardware testing 
• Supporting and facilitating engineering projects including new product/solution development, product changes, and customer integration 
• Supporting the change management process to ensure all required actions have been completed and that communication to key stakeholders is maintained 
• Ensuring quality documentation is updated/created as required, including technical manuals 
• Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects 
• Modifying and updating requirements documents 
• Coordinating preparation of design drawings including updates 
• Supporting and facilitating project scheduling 

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field 
• At least 1 year of experience in hardware design  
• Product Development experience  
• Experience with complex systems development, evaluation and requirements capture 
• Experience with electrical and mechanical interface requirements 
• Experience in risk analysis and progress reporting 
• Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time 
• Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance  

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering and networking experience 
• Experience in RF engineering  
• Experience with Embedded Linux 
• Knowledge of audio/video encoder/decoders and interfaces 
• Experience in electromagnetic capability (EMC) testing and design 
• Knowledge of military certification/qualification testing 
• Experience with enclosure/packaging design for hardware 

The base pay for this role can vary from $110,000 to $137,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
