About this role

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Operations and Integration Engineer to serve as the technical engineering lead and point of contact (POC) for a mission critical program developing a cutting-edge capability for Space Systems Command. The ideal candidate will apply deep expertise in engineering principles to assess requirements, develop engineered designs, and oversee technical execution. This role requires strong leadership, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate with various stakeholders, including government and contractor personnel.  This position entails providing overarching guidance and technical direction for the program to ensure seamless development and operation execution.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the Chief Engineer and primary technical POC for the program. 
  • Oversee all SEIT, Software development and GEP development and integration 
  • Represent the program as the primary engineering POC to the Customer 
  • Apply engineering principles to assess requirements, develop design plans, and ensure technical feasibility. 
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to foster support for program objectives. 
  • Oversee project efforts to ensure technical execution remains on schedule and within budget. 
  • Work with PMO and TPOCs to define technical requirements, schedules, performance criteria, and project kick-off briefings, readiness reviews, update program deliverables. 
  • Provide recommendations based on technical assessments and present findings to key decision-makers. 
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation in support of Customer requirements. 
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers as needed. 
  • Ensure seamless communication and collaboration across technical teams. 
  • Support the PMO by conducting programmatic and technical evaluations and integration test events. 
  • Manage multiple projects at varying stages of completion and prioritization effectively. 
  • Host and attend Customer meetings such readiness reviews and test events as required.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10 years of experience, may have supervisory or lead experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance. 
  • At least 7 years of experience reviewing technical, schedule, and budgetary aspects of projects. 
  • At least 7 years of experience developing technical requirements, schedules, FTE estimates, performance criteria, CDRL definitions, and project kick-off briefings.

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Expertise in theory of space operations, performance characteristics, vulnerability, and employment of Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking (MWT) systems. 
  • Experience leading analysis, evaluation, and assessment of defensive space systems and technologies. 
  • Proven ability to oversee engineering efforts related to Resilient MWT, the corresponding ground segment design and integration to include design, development and maintenance. 
  • Understanding of Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) and it’s implementation. 
  • Knowledge of Threat Modeling Analysis Program (TMAP) digital models, simulations, and hardware representations of defensive systems. 
  • Understanding of IEEE15288.1 and SSC-T-005 standards 
  • Proven understanding and ability to implement IVVT practices 
  • Proven ability to apply MBSE SAM concepts, applications, and use of tools such as CAMEO 
  • Proven ability to apply INCOSE Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK) 
  • Knowledge of Resilient MWT Systems and the correlating Ground Segments. 
  • Familiarization with the Integrated Master Schedule process and  

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of agile development process and ability to adjust based on evolving requirements 
  • Understanding of Risk Management processes, assessment, and mitigation techniques 
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts and a proven ability to integrate those concepts into an engineering solution 
  • Understanding of the development of engineering documentation such as a Systems Requirements documentation and CI/CD pipeline documentations, REVTM 
  • Familiarization with OPIR ground segments 
  • Familiarization of FMIL-STD-882E and developing On-Orbit Hazard Analysis Safety Assessment Reports 
  • Familiarization with SAE TA-STD-0017 and MIL-STD-11991B 
  • Familiarization of SSC’s Forge Framework

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
