Job Summary/Objective: 

The Nurse Practitioner/PA works as a team member in our Traer Satellite Clinic in providing primary care to patients, discriminating cases acceptable for independent management from those requiring consultation/referral to supervising physician or to other resources in the clinic or community. Makes outside referrals after consulting with staff physician if needed. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.

Protected Health Information Requirements/Access:

    This position will require the use or disclosure of protected health Information.

    This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information.

    Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.

    Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management.

    Maintains an accurate electronic medical record to support clinical and business documentation requirements.

    Develops and maintains own competence.

    Assists in control of Peoples Community Health Clinic resources.

Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:

This position operates in a clinical environment, PPE is required.

Physical Demands:

This position requires continuously lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (67% - 100% of shift); occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. (34% - 66% of shift); occasional pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. (34% - 66% of shift). Continuous finger dexterity and use of hands/arms for repetitive movement (67% - 100% of shift). Frequent Twisting and Reaching at and below shoulder level; Occasional Bending/Stooping, Kneeling, and Reaching above shoulder level. (34% - 66% of shift). Occasional driving with and without loading and unloading items. Occasional exposure to odors.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typical work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m.and 5:00 p.m. with some evening coverage anticipated. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet client scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status. 


Travel:

Occasional driving might be expected. 


Education and Experience:

    Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner/PA program

    Board certified in specialty or eligible

    Previous health care experience preferred


Licensure:

    Must complete all requirements necessary for the practice of medicine in Iowa including state agreements for payment of health services under Medicare and Medicaid, DEA permission to prescribe and maintain controlled substances, hospital privileges at local facilities, malpractice insurability, Iowa medical license. Board certification or eligibility required in specialty area.

About Peoples Community Health Clinic
