JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Student Disability Resources (SDR) is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant for a student who has a mobility impairment taking ART 240 Beginning Printmaking during the Spring 2026 Semester. The individual hired for this role will assist the student with equipment handling and project work to ensure access to all printmaking activities and course materials. In addition, they will also assist with completing printmaking projects outside of class. Primary duties include:

 

Equipment Handling

 

  • Support the student in adjusting and using printmaking tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Assist with operating presses, including cranking press beds and positioning printing substrates
  • Help maneuver materials and projects between different classroom locations (238 Theatre, 215 Theatre, 214 Theatre, and 102 Patterson)
  • Support the student in accessing work surfaces and sinks that are not at appropriate heights for wheelchair users

Project Assistance

  • Provide hands-on help with printmaking projects during class sessions
  • Assist with project work outside of scheduled class time (up to 6 additional hours per week)
  • Help organize and transport materials between multiple studio spaces

Other

  • Other tasks as assigned by SDR

Requirements:

  • Time commitment:
  • Attend scheduled class sessions in-person, on the Penn State University Park Campus, at the following time:
  • Lectures: Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Theatre Building Room 238
  • Able to schedule time outside of class to work on printmaking projects
  • Able to work an estimated 12 hours per week
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience in printmaking techniques and equipment
  • Previous experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred but not required

Additional Notes

  • The individual hired for this role is not responsible for individually teaching course material
  • Pay rate: $16 per hour
  • Employment period: Spring 2026 semester (January 12, 2026 - May 1, 2026)
