POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking candidates to fill the role of Athletic Trainer. The primary sport coverage for this position will be Men's and Women's Rugby. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with coordination and delivery of athletic training and sports medicine services for assigned student athletes.
  • Travel as needed with team to away contests.
  • Assist in the implementation of comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Maintain proper medical records in accordance with all governmental guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining athletic training facility and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Transport student athletes to appointments when medically necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings, student athlete onboarding and physicals.
  • Additional opportunities with athletic clinics and camps (supplemental compensation).
  • Supervise athletic training students as a preceptor as assigned.
  • Supportive coverage with other teams when needed or cross coverage as defined by supervisor.
  • Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and during emergency care management and rehabilitation

Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree is preferred. Current BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing and eligible for Athletic Trainer Licensure within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED) required.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Athletic Trainer - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization If filled as Athletic Trainer - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine

 

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

 

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $67,300.00.
