Here's how an Estimating Intern for PCL Construction Services, Inc. within Minneapolis contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
As an Intern, you will be given similar responsibilities as a full-time, entry-level Estimator. You will have the opportunity to participate in company training opportunities, events, and community volunteer opportunities.
- Reviews quantity survey assignment with lead estimator
- Performs general sub-trade solicitation duties
- Bid document control
- Performs bid day assignments
- Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping
- Visits job sites periodically
- Use of in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating)
- Develops relationships with subcontractors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or similar degree
• Must be authorized to work in the US *PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g. H1-B, etc.) for this position
• Any experience using the following; On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel and Word, Revit, Acrobat, and other computer software
• Required to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test
Skills that are a Plus for the Estimating job stream:
• Knowledge of unit pricing and a general understanding of conceptual estimating
• Prior experience working in construction
• Have a general understanding of contract agreements; Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, Public/Private Partnership
The estimated hourly wage range for this role is $20 - $24 per hour, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
