Job DetailsJob Location: 349 4TH AVE SE - CEDAR RAPIDS, IA 52401Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $16.00 - $16.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyThe Downtown Enforcement Officer ensures compliance with parking regulations across all downtown facilities, including ramps, lots, and on-street spaces. This role combines enforcement duties with customer service to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming parking environment. Officers patrol assigned areas, issue citations, assist customers, and support operational needs. This is a full-time position (38.5 hours/week) with benefits. Responsibilities Parking Enforcement: - Patrol ramps, lots, and on-street parking areas to monitor compliance. - Issue citations for violations using handheld ticket devices. - Enforce towing and emergency snow route ordinances. - Appear in court as a witness when required. Customer Service: - Provide courteous assistance and answer questions about parking services and regulations. - Support event parking operations and assist customers as needed. Safety & Reporting: - Observe and report safety hazards, inoperative meters, and operational issues. - Document incidents and maintain accurate logs. Technology & Equipment: - Operate handheld ticket writers, two-way radios, and Windows-based applications. QualificationsJob-Specific Requirements - Strong customer service and communication skills. - Ability to learn and apply city ordinances and parking regulations. - Knowledge of downtown Cedar Rapids geography preferred. - Critical thinking and decision-making skills. - Physical ability to walk and stand outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions. - Must hold a valid driver’s license and meet DOT driving requirements. Minimum Eligibility Requirements - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene. - Reliable attendance and punctuality. - Ability to pass a background check and drug test. Schedule & Pay - Full-time; approximately 38.5 hours per week. - Pay: $16.00 per hour. - Early mornings, late evenings, and weekend availability required; schedules may vary.
