Position Summary: 

The Information Services Manager is responsible for planning and directing business systems and data processing activities for the Mill, which includes updating and maintaining existing computer systems, analyzing, and resolving system problems in an expedient (timely) manner, and writing and debugging new programs upon approval.

The Manager – Information Services is expected to ensure that all administrative aspects of product scheduling for orders that are placed at their assigned facility are fulfilled in an efficient and timely manner.

 

Principle Accountabilities: 

  • Provides efficient and secure computer systems and services to meet organizational needs
  • Manages and measures efficiency and performance of IT personnel, equipment and system applications
  • Reviews and evaluates feasibility of requests for system changes, directs changes to system and participates in the maintenance of these systems
  • Maintains a general knowledge of all hardware, associated equipment and software in the computer centers
  • Monitors computer hardware for the purpose of determining needed maintenance requirements and makes arrangements for the call-in of outside hardware service personnel
  • Manages and monitors the live and backup IBM iSeries business servers
  • Manages and monitors the Trident and SMARTS software systems (Maintenance, Business, Wood Management and Roll Tracking)
  • Ensures adequate system security and sufficient backup policies exist through periodic review and testing
  • Develop, maintain and test site ITS disaster recovery plan and backup/restore data operations
  • Maintains understanding of IT related SOX policies and ensures adherence
  • participates in financial and ITS related audits for data collection, reporting and remediation, when applicable.
  • Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, share information that would benefit other members of the team and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
  • Strive to continually strengthen PCA’s business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectation for customers specifically supporting PCA’s Commitment to Service which involves doing what’s right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.

Decision Making:

The incumbent manages all activities related to computerized systems, applications and technologies for the Mill. Provide support for all day-to-day activities at the Mill and report to corporate when needed. The Manager – Information Systems is also responsible for training development and helping provide training material to employees when systems are added or modified. 4. Continually evaluate computer hardware, software, and systems.  Recommends upgrades based on technology changes, mill needs and long-range corporate plans.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related curriculum.
  • A minimum of five years practical experience in data processing with experience in supervision, programming, and system management.
  • Understanding of virtual environments, storage area networks and VB.NET.
  • Good working knowledge of operating systems and the ability to solve on-the-spot problems.
  • Exhibit skills to effectively communicate with management and fellow employees; proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite; database management (SQL and MSSQL server); operations/management of IBM iSeries hardware and software is a plus.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

 

  • Starting salary range for position: $106,400 through $159,600. 
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.  
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
