About this role

Regions Hospital is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Cytologist to join our laboratory team.

As the Cytologist you will:

  • Perform cytological analysis of benign and malignant conditions.
  • Identify unusual findings including insufficiency in the preparations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Work schedule: FTE: 1.0 (40 Hrs. Weekly), Monday-Friday

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or allied health sciences including Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, etc. and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or ASCP approved School of Cytotechnology.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:  ASCP board certification or eligible. Two (2) years of Cytotechnology work experience within the last five- (5) years may substitute for the educational qualifications. Must be certified within one year of hire. If ASCP certified after 2004, must participate in the Certificate of Maintenance Program (CMP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:     Three years of experience as a cytotechnologist in a CLIA accredited laboratory.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ASCP certification and completion of a CLIA approved proficiency test taken within the year of hire.
