Role Overview 

The Product Owner – Events will own and evolve the end-to-end product experience for Packt’s live virtual events. This role combines product thinking, analytics, user insight, and experimentation to deliver high-value event experiences and improve user engagement, retention, and lifetime value. You will use data, interviews, engagement patterns, and competitive insights to identify what works, reduce friction, and refine formats and delivery. 

This role directly influences the economics, performance, and long-term value of Packt’s virtual event products. It is ideal for someone who wants to build high-impact learning experiences while driving measurable commercial and user outcomes. 
 

What You Will Do 

Understand Users & Shape the Product 

  • Define and maintain the product charter, including value propositions, target audiences, and success metrics. 
  • Use analytics, feedback, interviews, and journey mapping to identify user needs and friction points. 
  • Translate insights into improvements in event formats, content flow, interactivity, and overall experience. 

Drive Experimentation, Innovation & Market Awareness 

  • Build the analytics layer and run structured experiments (A/B, multivariate) to optimize format, timing, and pricing. 
  • Convert engagement patterns and competitive insights into actionable product decisions. 
  • Maintain awareness of trends in virtual learning and events to inform the product roadmap. 

Build & Scale the Event-to-IP Pipeline 

  • Develop frameworks to convert event outputs into derivative products (newsletters, nano-books, articles, courses). 
  • Own packaging, metadata standards, and distribution readiness. 
  • Track performance and ROI of derivative content across channels. 

Ensure Operational Excellence & Commercial Impact 

  • Create and maintain runbooks, workflows, and contingency plans for reliable virtual event delivery. 
  • Lead postmortems, integrate learnings, and shape lifecycle touchpoints that drive repeat attendance and LTV. 
  • Own key commercial metrics—LTV, repeat engagement, derivative performance—and collaborate on pricing, forecasting, and monetization. 

 

Who You Are

You will need strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent organization and time-management skills. You will need to be proactive in troubleshooting and problem-solving, upbeat, enthusiastic, and motivated. You will be a demonstrated self-starter who is focused and calm under pressure.  


Must-Have Skills and Competencies: 

  • 5+ years in product, program, user experience, live events, edtech, or digital content roles. 
  • Strong understanding of user experience principles and the event lifecycle. 
  • Experience designing and running experiments to improve engagement, conversion, and retention. 
  • Proficiency with analytics, surveys, and workflow tools. 
  • Excellent communication and the ability to translate insights into clear actions. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across creative, technical, and delivery teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to stay structured, calm, and effective during live delivery environments. 

 
Good-to-Have: 

  • Background in technology, SaaS, or virtual event operations. 
  • Experience with accessibility, localization, or certification-based learning products. 
  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Descript, Canva) for insight extraction and content creation. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field (technology, media, product, or business preferred).

Salary Range - INR 115K-200K fixed pay per month (skills and/or experience dependent)
