Department Overview 

The Energy Delivery (ED) Business Performance Team, among other things, oversees the development and execution of projects as may be assigned by the PG&E Company Chief Executive Officer (CEO); and manages, advances, and executes any other projects assigned by the Executive Officer Team.  

 

Under the Business Performance Team is the Business Execution organization. Responsibilities include:  

  • Operations and Strategy Oversight:  
  • Drive operational excellence through strategic planning, process improvement, and performance tracking via PG&E Performance Playbook (Lean, Breakthrough, and PG&E Safety Excellence Management System) 
  • Lead Lean Maturity Assessments and oversees performance metrics  
  • Engagement and Communication: 
  • Create and execute strategies for coworker, contractor, community, and external engagement  
  • Organize company-wide meetings and leadership communication initiatives  
  • Develop and execute PG&E Company CEO communication and engagement strategy including coworker engagement, customer and community outreach, industry engagements  
  • Partner with the People Team to develop talent strategies   
  • Business Planning and Compliance  
  • Oversee overall ED business planning, budgeting, and headcount management  
  • Execute audits, report metrics, and support change management initiatives  
  • Manage compliance with safety standards and operational commitments  
  • Special Projects 
  • Plans and executes any high-impact special projects assigned by the PG&E Company CEO and other officers 

The Communication Specialist, Principal, will report to the Manager, Business Execution. 

 

Position Summary

Develops communication strategies and disseminates internal and/or external communications with the goal of preserving and strengthening PG&E’s reputation and credibility with various stakeholders including coworkers, customers, the public, regulators, and industry leaders. Specifically: 

  • Develops messaging and communications strategies for the Company CEO, and key initiatives and business changes/impacts 
  • Researches and writes content for internal and external audiences providing information on programs, policies, projects, and other efforts impacting the organization   
  • Uses cross-functional knowledge and expertise to ensure consistency in messaging, tone, and voice 
  • Supports other communications efforts internally and externally providing ideas, edits, and formatting to support communications strategies  
  • Works with cross-functional teams within the organization to develop targeted communication pieces for unique and/or individual audiences 
  • Manages requests for specialized information (programs, procedures, policies, projects, initiatives) for use by other teams, or internal and external clients 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors. 

 

A reasonable salary range is: 

Bay Area Minimum: $147,000 

Bay Area Maximum: $251,000 

 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Acts as a thought leader and provides strategic guidance, applying extensive unique subject matter expertise in the development of strategy or resolution of complex communications issues 
  • May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives 
  • Works regularly with senior management to support strategic communications planning and decision making 
  • Manages the development, planning, implementation and coordination of communication strategies, messaging and action plans of the highest complexity and visibility internally and/or externally 
  • Works with leaders across the company on strategic issues and ensures communication alignment with line of business goals 
  • Partners closely with the Company CEO Chief of Staff and Senior Director, ED Business Performance in undertaking key strategy development and execution of Company CEO communications and engagement  
  • Remains current on challenges and opportunities affecting the company and its coworkers 
  • Makes recommendations on how to best frame and position key issues utilizing strategic communication approaches and vehicles 
  • Develops strategic communication plans on business strategies and priorities and ensures alignment and integration with key internal and external communications partners 
  • Utilizes communications measures, metrics, and best practices to develop comprehensive strategies and plans 

 

Qualifications 

Minimum: 

  • Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Job-related experience, 8 years 
  • A Class C License, or equivalent 

Desired: 

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience 
  • May require some travel. Occasional need for flexible/long hours. 
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification 
  • Highly skilled at leading project teams 
  • Analytical and creative problem solving, strategic decision-making ability 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools 
  • Advanced presentation skills to effectively convey complex issues to internal and external parties of various levels 
  • Previous experience developing and executing an officer’s communication and engagement strategy
