Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

The Emergency Management Specialist participates in designing, developing, and maintaining Emergency Preparedness plans, processes, standards, and programs. Incumbents manage the tools to support key operational programs to effectively support emergency response efforts across the organization including internal and external facing websites and software applications and are responsible for providing emergency training exercises and drills to internal coworkers in various departments involved in emergency planning and business continuity. Responsibilities also include the coordination of preparedness activities with internal and external partners to support an effective readiness posture to identified hazards and ensuring assigned employee groups perform effectively in emergency situations and operate the transmission or distribution grid in a reliable manner.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be Sacramento, Auburn, or Redding. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area –  $118,000 - $188,000

California - $112,000 - $179,000                

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Reviews complex plans to identify deficiencies that must be addressed and provide guidance on solutions that would address issues identified. 
  • Leads the department Hazard Analysis Matrix for Emergency Planning.
  • Assists in the planning and the development of annual functional Company exercise design and execution.
  • Manages planning templates and emergency plan annexes to improve emergency planning functions.
  • Plans, facilitates and / or participates in regular LOB emergency training exercises and drills.  
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business units and external agencies.
  • Supports emergency planning manager in planning process with outside agencies.
  • Represents PG&E at community events focused on emergency response and preparedness.
  • Provides guidance, support, and information to assigned field groups preparing plans for inclusion in the Company Emergency Response Plan as Annexes.
  • Provides guidance to EMS Senior/Specialists in their daily work and special projects.
  • Performs advanced Hazard Analysis. Works with NHAP group.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 7 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Experience in emergency planning and preparedness
  • Experience as a trainer, job-related
  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training
  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification
  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification
  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar
