Job Summary:
Provides leadership and direction for areas of responsibility. Directly responsible for Nursing Professional Development with matrixed leadership to other system sites. Works collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure operational excellence and align with system strategy. Leads or assists in leading professional development at the system level.
As a Director at Owensboro Health, you provide operational and strategic oversight for designated departments or service areas. You translate organizational goals into actionable plans, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You are accountable for resource stewardship and regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
Serves as a member of the nurse executive group and engages in proactive, data driven actions designed to stabilize and expand the nursing workforce.
Partners with the Human Resources to evaluate nursing workforce requirements in support of targeted recruitment efforts.
Directs the Nursing Professional Advancement Program across the system.
Collaborates with Clinical Education to implement strategies to optimize of the Nurse Residency program and related nurse mentoring programs.
Develops, directs, and supports programs that improve the acquisition and retention of nurses.
Leads and assumes organizational responsibility for developing goals related to implementing and achieving national nursing programs and/or recognitions.
Partners with nursing leadership to focus on fostering professional practice, quality, safety, and patient care outcomes.
Designs processes and programs in collaboration with the Nurse Executive team to support professional development related to educational advancement and national certification of the nurse workforce.
Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Works autonomously within a stressful environment and appropriately escalates information as needed.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Align nursing leadership decisions with OH strategic imperatives.
Assist in developing initiatives to support the strategic priorities for nursing and updating the nursing strategic framework.
Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Approves and/or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
Implement the vision and strategic plan for patient care.
Support shared governance to engage all nurses in decision-making and problem-solving.
Serves as the leader liaison for Site and System Congress

Leadership Development – Actively engages in the Leadership Development Program by enrolling in the program within the first 6 months of employment and completing the program within the first 2 years of employment.

Position Requirements:
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience as determined by the organization
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire.
Master’s degree or higher in Nursing, preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND
BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment in this position
