Overview





Otterbein has an employment opportunity for an Assistant Director of Nursing.  The Assistant Director of Nursing assumes the responsibility for coordinating all aspects of nursing staff scheduling to ensure that minimum license staffing ratios are consistently maintained, coordinates the continuing education of the nursing staff, coordinates the multidisciplinary care planning process and evaluates team member performance.


Otterbein is searching for a strong, mission driven nurse leader to join the dedicated and compassionate team committed to enhancing the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons we serve.








Responsibilities



  • Handling wound care and infection control

  • Track Physician and Ancillary Visits and Orders

  • Discuss resident observations/concerns with appropriate coordinator

  • Provides coaching and direction to staff as needed

  • Complete the certifications and recertification’s for residents in the skilled nursing unit

  • Facilitate the weekly Medicare/Therapy/Resident meetings

  • Act as the therapy liaison

  • Provide social services support as needed.

  • Complete the reassessments for residents and hospital visits when appropriate

  • Facilitate the restorative program

  • Participate in the morning stand up meetings

  • Assist in the management of the survey process

  • Assist with doctor rounds

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Education: Graduate of approved nursing program

  • Licensure/Certification: Valid Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Experience:  Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a nurse in long term care. Experience with Restorative Nursing and/or as a nursing supervisor is highly desirable.  Knowledge of MDS preferred.  Experience with resident discharge processes desired. 

  • Computer Skills:  Sufficient level computer skills to perform electronic medical record/submission duties

  • Demonstrate knowledge of clinical standards of practice, regulations and reimbursement governing long-term care and Medicare/Medicaid participation.

  • Communicate a sense of caring, concern, and dignity for residents.

  • Understand how to place decision-making in the hands of the residents whenever possible and appropriate.

  • Make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care and emergencies.
