The Director of Systems Engineering imparts Systems Engineering structure, and guides associated staff, to support development of state-of-the-art RF transmitter systems. This individual is responsible for requirements definition, alignment across functional teams, regular communication of progress, as well as escalation of any issues/blockers.

 

This position will start in East Dallas and in the Spring will be based in Richardson area. 


Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement systems engineering processes to achieve best-in-class execution, focusing on quality, schedule, and cost performance
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives for the team
  • Work cross-functionally; define and develop System Requirements documentation for all programs
  • Manage program Verification and Validation documentation and document adherence to requirements
  • Contribute to engineering proposals to align with business opportunities to enable product definition alignment with customer needs
  • Collaborate effectively across functional teams, including Program Office, Engineering, Operations, and Quality
  • When operating within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment, work with the development team to manage to the unique demands and regulatory requirements
  • Recognized as a change agent within the business, adept at driving innovation from concept to successful execution
  • Champion & implement cross-team/intra-team collaboration and continuous improvement in product designs and engineering practices, with a mindset for subsystem reuse
  • Ensure the systems engineering staff possess the necessary skills and experience to meet current and future business demands
  • Drive a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Spearhead recruitment and foster professional growth to assemble, develop and retain a skilled, high-performing team
  • Responsible for coaching and supporting staff to ensure individual and team success; as part of the Performance Review process create development plans and oversee performance assessment processes
  • Develop budgets, policies and procedures to support the functional infrastructure
  • Versed in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Versed in DoDAF terms to develop customer needs and lead program teams to success with requirements, including customer interface as deemed by Defense Industry practice

  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. Ensure that direct report(s) are trained and evaluated on their knowledge and adherence to the company’s values, Code of Ethics and Conduct, and applicable compliance policies
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of experience as an engineering lead in the defense industry
  • Ability to obtain DoD issued Secret Clearance. Top Secret preferred
  • A hands-on leader who is willing to dive deep when needed
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with project teams, management and customers
  • Demonstrate high business acumen with ability to analyze complex problems and data, and make high-quality, data-driven decisions
  • Some travel will be required
