The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for managing IT projects assigned to support the strategic, tactical and operational needs of Orthofix in partnership with IT Leadership, Business Stakeholders and Assigned Project Teams in alignment with the Project Management framework. The Sr. Project Manager will support the continuous improvement of the standards, procedures and practices of the IT Project Management Office (IT PMO). The Sr. Project Manager should be knowledgeable in agile, hybrid and waterfall project management methodologies and project management toolsets.  This position will be responsible for providing leadership and team management for the assigned project team members, ongoing mentoring and support of project management capabilities across the IT organization and vendor management activities. 

What will your duties and responsibilities be?

The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.

  • Leads and manages projects, and is accountable for delivering assigned projects on time, with the desired quality and scope, within budget, meeting the strategic and business requirements.

  • Ensures integration of projects and adjusts project scope, timing, and budgets as needed, based on the needs of the business.

  • Facilitates stakeholder engagements to collect requirements for projects.

  • Develops, implements and manages project plans including time and cost estimates and tracking and communicating project progress against plan through regular status reporting.

  • Manages project financials, including budgeting for all project costs, tracking actual costs, reporting variances and estimates to complete.

  • Reports project status, issues, and risks to IT senior management through status reporting, progress reports, dashboards and management presentations.

  • Provides leadership and manages the assigned project team members by providing guidance, coaching, assignment of work, and is accountable for ensuring project team members complete tasks and deliverables in a timely manner.

  • Accountable for the management of external vendors in their delivery of solutions and services.  Works with external organizations and agencies to define and manage the exchange of information as necessary for a project.

  • Assist and support program/project communications and overall visibility and establish communications plans, processes and tools across projects/programs, stakeholder’s groups, leaders and champions.

  • Participates in RFI/RFP development, contract negotiations and other legal documentation for external vendor relationships and manages the vendor delivery based on the contractual commitments effectively.

  • Support daily management system. Commit to continuous identification of opportunities to improve quality of deliverables, processes and tools.

  • Manages stakeholder communication throughout the entire project life cycle

  • Verification that project documents are completed, and appropriate procedures are followed.

  • Documents high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment to understand project limitations.

  • Stay on top of project progress, turn challenges into opportunities, and deliver clear and impactful decision-making insights

  • Responsible for supporting the advancement of project management capabilities within the IT PMO including mentoring of other project managers, auditing project deliverables and recommending adjustments as required.

  • Utilizes the established project management strategies, procedures and processes in co-ordination with other members of the team as required. Supports the ongoing improvements of the IT Project Management practices by maintaining industry knowledge of new and emerging project management and technology trends and methodologies and making recommendations for improvement.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

What skills and experience will you need?

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in relevant engineering, business, or technical field

  • CAPM, PMP or similar certification

Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • Minimum of 8 years of formal project management experience.

  • Strong management and project management skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, encourage teamwork, conflict resolution, anticipate and identify critical technical obstacles, and make accurate operational decisions.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.

  • Demonstrate skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Proficiency with Project Management Tools and Office Suite programs.

  • Extensive experience of managing IT projects

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on complex IT projects

  • Understanding of IT processes and methodologies

What qualifications are preferred?

The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.

Education/Certifications:

  • PgPM, PfMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-ACP or other related certifications

Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • Experience in a Medical Device Company

  • Experience with IT ERP systems and/or Networking Technologies
