About this role
The Role
In 2025, we invested in advanced packaging decoration with the installation of the Velox Digital Printer, the first direct-to-shape digital printer of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, based right here in Dandenong. This milestone strengthens our position in the Oceania packaging market while creating long-term stability and career growth opportunities.
The Day Fitter is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting machinery, equipment, and services across the back-end operations of the can manufacturing facility. The role also focuses on driving mechanical maintenance improvements and completing critical quality checks to ensure optimal performance. This is a day shift position, working Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm, with opportunities for overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot machines and equipment by making assessments of problems and estimating duration of time to repair.
- Conduct preventative maintenance according to site requirements.
- Respond to machine breakdowns and take corrective action promptly.
- Perform critical quality checks, including testing and temperature monitoring within the washer section to ensure compliance with standards
- Prepare, manage, and organise critical spare parts to support efficient back-end operations
- Use of computerised maintenance systems, PM check sheets, schematic drawings, technical manuals etc.
- Demonstrate an exemplary safety ethic and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the plant.
About You
- Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter with 1–2 years’ post-apprenticeship experience
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to collaborate across all levels, partnering closely with operators to diagnose and resolve breakdowns
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, with genuine passion and pride in your trade
- Proven attention to detail, with experience working to fine tolerances and high standards
