Position Overview 

The Senior Clinical Analyst possess an advanced knowledge of the clinical processes of the departments supported by software and system configurations installed based on an analysis of user requirements. The Senior Clinical Analyst will drive the analysis of clinical processes and application design and assess impacts to the clinical workflow. The Senior Clinical Analyst will lead the process to identify areas for improvement, perform troubleshooting methods to identify malfunctions with hardware or software, and perform system checks to ensure security measures are being followed. The Senior Clinical Analyst may work in either the Clinical or the Enterprise Quality & Performance (QRP) setting.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions
• Analyze business partner’s clinical operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to optimize processes and functions to ensure adoption, satisfaction and compliance with policies and reporting requirements.
• Analyze and evaluate administrative and clinical data and produces effective presentations and documents, making recommendations about methods and protocols to ensure optimal use of technology.
• Utilize strong customer service orientation and ability to follow through issues to resolution.
• Exercise a broad understanding of various clinical services and information / workflow associated.
• Troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems.
• Interpret data, find solutions to organizational issues and help implement solutions as needed.
• Facilitate, lead working sessions where operational workflow items are discussed, and impact is understood.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on requests for new features or changes in existing content.
• Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
• Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications.
• Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
• Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
• Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Communicates to stakeholders the analysis and the resulting trends and make recommendations for improvement.
• Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and business planning within the various departments and programs of the business group
• Communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes.
• Ensure system changes follow clinical workflow, change management procedures and protocols, create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications, and develop, plan and execute testing for supported applications.
• Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical processes and workflow in achieving QRP goals.
• Communicate with all levels of healthcare personnel to include: IT management staff, clinicians, clinical administrators, etc.
• Suggest changes to senior management using research to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes.
• Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
• Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
• Strong interpersonal skills in working with other IT teams, end users, department managers and senior leadership.
• Participate in multidisciplinary process improvement and change leadership within assigned service line(s).
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

 

Other Related Functions
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and enterprise quality and performance goals in supported departments.
• Exercise broad knowledge of healthcare Information Technology principles, best practices and in-depth understanding of clinical workflows.
• Maintains current knowledge of HIPAA, privacy and confidentiality standards to ensure both vendor and internally developed software are compliant.


Qualifications

Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree required. Associate’s degree and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section). Four (4) years of directly related work experience may also substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).

 

Licensure/Certification
None.


Experience
Four (4) years of direct experience with large diverse IT projects in a healthcare environment.

 

Preferred Experience

Five (5) years of nursing experience with additional experience in a technical role (ie: Clinical informaticist)
