Position Summary

Orlando Orthopedic Clinic - Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute

 

 

 

One of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health and orthopedic trauma. The institute’s Downtown Complex brings the whole spectrum of orthopedic and spine care under one roof and includes an orthopedic specialty hospital featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 advanced OR suites, and a research and innovation center with a bio skills lab and 3D printer. Institute physicians also lead a robust clinical research and education program. An adjacent medical pavilion houses a 63-exam-room outpatient clinic, imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and ambulatory surgery center. The institute also holds official medical roles with multiple athletic teams, sporting events and venues. In its first year of eligibility, the institute has been recognized for its positive workplace culture with Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work award.

This role offers flexible hours and is great for ATCs who enjoy event coverage, game support, and working directly with athletes in a fast‑paced environment.
 

 

Schedule: As needed

Status: Per-Diem (Pool) 


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to appropriately treat patients according to professional standards of practice.
  • Interpersonal communication skills include the ability to coordinate patient care with other team members, and educate patients
    and their families.
  • Independently makes decisions that will affect the health and quality of life of patients.
  • Maintains a cheerful atmosphere in which to treat.
  • Demonstrates caring, honesty, and open communication with all and encourages a smart and a professional appearance in self and
    in others.
  • Participates in performance improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection
    control, as required.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing when applicable.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. The
    individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to
    assess data reflective of each patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's
    requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the
    unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for providing patient treatment under the direct supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist or Medical Doctor in the
    clinic setting.
  • Assists with special events outside the clinic.
  • Participates in the organization and development of educational and community programs.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
    and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedur

Qualifications

Education/Training 

  • Master’s degree in related field or Bachelor’s in athletic training or related field and 3+ years relevant experience
  • Preferred, 1 or more of the following: NASM-CES, NASM-PES, ISFTA-CPT, NSCA-CSCS, FMS, SFMA
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

 

Licensure/Certification

  • Maintains current certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification
    (BOC)
  • Maintains current license as Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida, Department of Health
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
