About the role


We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have a new opportunity for an Auto Electrician / Field Service Technician to join Orica Metals West Asset & Maintenance Team.

The role will operate on 8 days on, 6 days off, roster in support of multiple sites across Western Australia.

Reporting to the Orica Asset Supervisor, the Technician will provide maintenance and technical support to Mobile and Fixed plant within Orica sites across Western Australia.

What you will be doing

 

  • Perform routine servicing and repairs on site-based mobile and fixed plant equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide preventive maintenance and responsive breakdown support across multiple Orica sites.
  • Offer expert maintenance advice to site leaders and managers to enhance operational reliability.
  • Monitor equipment performance, report failures, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and safety within the workplace.
  • Operate effectively in both open-cut and underground mining environments while adhering to safety standards.
  • Play a key role within a collaborative team of mobile technicians and mechanics, supporting Orica’s operations across multiple sites.

What you will bring

 

  • Unwavering focus on creating and sustaining a safe work environment.
  • Auto Electrical trade qualification (Essential).
  • Dual trade with Auto Mechanic (Desirable).
  • 3 + years post trade experience in similar role within the heavy industry or mining sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Heavy Rigid driving license is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience or openness to working in dynamic underground environments with a strong safety mindset.
  • Ability to obtain National Police Clearence. 
  • Competent in or willing to become certified for confined space entry and operations.
  • Competent in or willing to become certified for Working at Heights
