We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences:
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator in coordinating a research project Evaluating the Effectiveness of Simulation Training with Standardized Patients on De-escalation Skills for Qualified Psychiatric Nurses.
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Role-Playing & Simulation: Accurately portraying specific patient histories, personalities and physical symptoms, specifically aggressive or agitated behaviors in a consistent and standardized manner during simulation sessions.
- De-escalation Training Support: Interacting with staff in real-time, reacting realistically to their interventions based on pre-defined scripts and emotional cues.
- Feedback Provision: Providing objective, constructive verbal and written feedback to participants regarding their communication style, empathy and de-escalation techniques from the "patient's" perspective.
- Session Preparation: Memorizing case scripts, background stories and behavioral triggers prior to training sessions to ensure high-fidelity simulations.
He/she will be normally assigned to work less than 68 hours per month.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience, and competence:
- A recognized Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Nursing, Performing Arts, Social Sciences, Language or a related discipline;
- A good command of both spoken English and Cantonese;
- An ability to give constructive, non-judgmental feedback to learners and collaborate effectively with research staff and faculty and
- Prior experience in acting, role-playing or working as a Standardized Patient is highly preferred. Comfort with portraying intense emotions (e.g., anger, anxiety, confusion) is essential.
Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
