We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:



Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) of courses, and where necessary, programme administration in psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

  • Contributing to the design, ongoing review, and administration of programs and curricula, ensuring alignment with academic and professional standards;

  • Supervising student practicum, internships, and honors projects, providing mentorship that bridges theory and practice, and ensuring students gain hands-on, practical experience;

  • Maintaining strong connections with relevant industries and professional organisations, and participate in scholarly, professional, and community service activities;

  • Engaging in academic research and publication, and research grant applications;

  • Participating in scholarly activities, School/University activities and administration; and

  • Performing any other duties as assigned.

 

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • An earned doctorate in Psychology and a professional qualification in Counselling Psychology;

  • Must be a Registered or Licensed Counselling Psychologist;

  • A minimum of five years of post-qualification practising experience in Counselling Psychology or a related mental health field;

  • Outstanding academic background and achievements, with demonstrated leadership in higher education;

  • Substantial relevant teaching and professional experience, including postgraduate supervision, programme and course development and administration, with significant contributions and innovation in curriculum development, course design, and teaching methodologies;

  • Proven fieldwork supervision experience in counselling or mental health settings;

  • Solid record of research and peerreviewed publications in reputable outlets, success in securing external competitive research grants, and notable achievements in knowledge transfer; and

  • Considerable contribution to the University, profession and community.

     

The level of appointment depends on the candidate’s academic background, experience and competence in academic leadership, teaching, research, scholarly publications, etc.

 

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, a composite cash/housing allowance, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates. Generous annual leave, staff-development sponsorships, medical and dental benefits, and life insurance coverage will also be provided.
